Ayub Savula has said he will be forced to quit the Amani National Congress (ANC) if his party leader, Musalia Mudavadi, forms a coalition with deputy president William Ruto.
The Lugari Member of Parliament reiterated that he is still a member of the ANC and wishes Mudavadi had joined forces with ODM leader Raila Odinga in his Azimio la Umoja movement.
“I want Musalia Mudavadi to work with Raila so that we form a strong team that will ensure the ODM boss wins the election,” he said.
In the event Mudavadi chooses to go contrary to Savula’s wish, the MP will have no option but to decamp from the ANC.
“We have procedures to be followed once you quit from one party to the other, so if Musalia decides to work with UDA, then I will have to resign from ANC first and then register officially as an ODM member as per the laws,” Savula said.
Savula, who has announced his ambition to succeed Wycliffe Oparanya as Kakamega Governor, believes Raila carries all the hope for Mudavadi and thinks he will be in a better position to receive the power baton from Odinga after the 2022 polls.
This comes amid speculation that the ANC is in talks with Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance to form a coalition.
