The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss Amin Mohamed is under fire after publishing fake photos purportedly from Monday’s mass protests by the Azimio coalition.
According to the media, led by Nation, the majority of the photos published were from previous protests in 2018 and some from August 2022, just after the election results were announced.
One of the photos published by the DCI was taken when Raila Odinga’s Kisumu supporters took to the streets to protest election results after Azimio leader Raila Odinga lost to President Ruto.
“Most of the photos published by DCI that purported to be from Monday’s demos were not from Monday’s demonstrations. The DCI has knowingly, willingly and with intent, chosen to publish false and misleading information,” NTV posted on its Twitter page.
The DCI said on Friday, after publishing the photos, that it was on a mission to hunt down and arrest culprits who took advantage of the protests to destroy property and attack police officers.
