Daisy Nyongesa, the wife of Lugari Member of the National Assembly, Nabii Nabwera, has urged the youth to embrace education, saying it is the best equalizer in society.
Ms. Nyongesa, while speaking at the Goebay Training Institute at Panpaper, where she’s the chair of the Board of Management, expressed her concern about the increasing number of youths who fail to continue with their studies after completing their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
“My humble request to Lugari youths is for them to pursue education past Form Four because training for something puts you at a better position to earn from your skills,” she said during a brief interview with the Western Kenya Times.
The former nominated Senator warned the youth against making rash decisions, such as getting married just after completing secondary school.
“The best decision one can make is to join a tertiary institution. Even if you did not get a direct university entry grade, you can take advantage of the TVET institutions, which offer training in hands-on skills,” she added.
Ms. Nyongesa seized the opportunity to highlight his empowerment agenda for women, boys, and girls.
“As a parent, I must talk about the warfare of the boy child because much attention has been given to the girl child’s forgetting. My work is to ensure that both genders are given equal opportunity to education and training to fit in the current job market,” she said.
She also spared a moment to applaud her husband for working hard to ensure the standards of this constituency are uplifted through his various empowerment programs, such as education, which is very beneficial to both boy and girl children.
Concerning the ongoing mass protests by the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition, Ms. Nyongesa said there is a need for dialogue between the government and the opposition to save the country from plunging into more problems.
“Let them sit down and solve their issues,” she said.
