2-year-old kid finds Sh1 million stashed in a wooden box in a bush in Bungoma

Police have seized the cash and are investigating the owner.

Police are investigating an incident in which a 2-year-old child stumbled upon a wooden box full of cash worth Sh1 million hidden inside a bush at Tuuti-Marakaru village in Kanduyi Sub-County, Bungoma.

The child, who is said to have gone to the bush to defecate, called for the attention of his mother when he spotted the shiny box covered with fresh leaves.

Upon checking, the mother, Pamela Nasike, took a step back upon discovering the box had new 1000-shilling notes tacked inside.

The box had a note written, “This is for Angela; do not temper.”

The mother, who remained overwhelmed by what she should do with all that money, summoned the police, who, upon arriving at the scene, counted the it up to Sh1 million.

“The thought of hiding the cash kept ringing in my mind, but I told myself that it was too much to even belong to me. Something was wrong about it,” the woman told the Western Kenya Times.
