Vihiga Queens have been crowned champions of the Kenya Women’s Premier League title after defeating Nakuru City Queens 2-1 at the ASK showgrounds in Nakuru on Sunday.
The win sealed Vihiga Queen’s win with a tally of 52 points, four head of Gaspo Women who drew 2-2 against Wadawida Women at the Mumias Sports Complex.
Vihiga Queen’s are winning the title for the second time in a row, although their title was nullified last season by the Football Federation National Executive Committee.
“The league has been competitive and a big congratulations to girls who have been fighting throughout the season,” said Boniface Nyamunyamu, the team’s head coach.
Gaspo’s draw diminished their title hopes after recording another draw against Ulinzi Starlets on Thursday.
The two top teams, Vihiga and Gaspo, are set to clash next weekend as the 2022/23 season comes to a close.
