Kitale bus stage closed for two days after boda boda rider was injured in conflict over management
Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has ordered the temporary closure of the bus stage at the center of Kitale town after a boda boda rider was slashed with a machete as chaos erupted over the stage leadership.
The rider was trying to prevent touts who were having a conflict over leadership from harming his pillion passenger before one of them attacked him and seriously injured him.
That forced Governor Natembeya to intervene to restore peace and order the closure of the stage for two days until Friday, when a new management will be installed.
“We will have a meeting, and you will have a chance to talk. I want the stage closed and everyone to go home. On Friday, we will have new management. We want to have some order at this stage,” he said.
Travelers remain stranded in the town following the closure.
