Khasoko Boys High School in Bungoma County has once again been closed indefinitely after a student allegedly died from malaria.
A parent, John Sirengo from Kimilili Sub-County in Bungoma County, told the Western Kenya Times that his son, a Form Three student, has been sent home with others after the Ministry of Health intervened over an alleged disease outbreak.
Social media reports claim the deceased student, a Form Two, died on Friday after falling sick.
“Due to the upsurge in cases of illness among students, the school has been closed indefinitely. The date to report back will be communicated later. Your son should undertake proper medical check up and come back with a report on the same. You are requested to provide a mosquito net. Thanks,” a statement from the school principal, Daniel Orach Wasambo, to parents shared on WhatsApp groups, read.
This comes a month after the school was closed indefinitely and a week after a student died while receiving treatment at the Bungoma County Referral Hospital.
Attempts to reach out to the Mr. Wasambo, for more information on the incident were futile.
