Former aspiring MCA for Lugari Ward Douglas Opijah [Photo-WKT]
Aspiring member of the county assembly for Lugari Ward, Douglas Opijah, has officially unveiled his bid to vie for the Lugari Ward seat.
During a church service at Lugari Church of God in Salama Village today, Opijah expressed his wish to succeed Musa Wangila Makhapila in the hotly contested seat, attracting more than five contestants.
Speaking after he was prayed for and dedicated for the race, Opijah said his number one agenda is to ensure every child from needy families has access to education through a special bursary program.
“Every child has a right to education. This is my number one manifesto and I have been working on from ever since,” he said.
Needy students have indeed been on the frontline to ensure needy students finish school by providing them bursaries, apart from donating books to them in schools across the ward.
In some of his other manifestos, he outlined fair opportunities for the youth and the development of infrastructure.
