Meet the 5 outstanding scribes behind the keyboard at the Western Kenya Times

The WKT consists of a team of five young and talented journalists who have been working around the clock to ensure you get the information you need. We present the personalities and identities of these wonderful people.

1. FK Zack

A football enthusiast and a diehard fan of Chelsea FC, Zack pairs as a sports journalist and commentator who writes comfortably in Kiswahili and English. Zack joined the WKT in August 2021, when it was still called Lugari Daily. He is a lively member of the team who spares his humor for the weekly staff meetings. The scribe finds media and journalism, which he didn’t stud for in college, a career he would rather die for. He is in the engineering profession.

2. Mark Wamwoyo

He loves calling himself Mark Waheart, another football enthusiast supporting Manchester City and a great footballer too. Mark, who studied political science and administration at Rongo University, backs up the WKT as a columnist and commentator on political and social matters. He also plays the role of legal adviser to the team. Mark joined the WKT somewhere in mid-2020 when it was still Lugari Daily.

3. Collins Oluyali

As a great columnist whose famous Magazetini newspaper review appears daily on the website, Collins makes an irreplaceable part of the team. Administrative police by profession, Collo provides hourly news updates on the WKT social media forums. He has a soft spot for politics. He joined the WKT in June 2021, when it was still called Lugari Daily.

4. Tom Lutali

Tom Lutali can be described as a man who doesn’t know the meaning of “give up.” He joined when the idea of the WKT had just rung in in March 2020. He was a student at Elgon View College in Eldoret at the time, and he was eager to navigate the murky waters. A cool and jovial member of the team, Tom, who supports Chelsea FC,  is an ardent sports reporter and feature article writer for the WKT. He is also an editor on the publication’s Facebook page.

5. Sam Oduor

Sam Oduor, a media and communications officer working with PlantVillage, is the chief editor as well as a news and current affairs reporter for the WKT. Sam, who studied for the media at Moi University, is the guy on whom the idea behind the WKT sits. Since the publication began as Lugari Daily, Sam has been able to edit more than 1200 articles while directing the entire team on relevant content and strategic measures. Sam has a great interest in print media and television production and broadcasting.
