Kakamega Deputy Governor-elect Ayub Savula has made a U-turn on his demands for an equal share of the county government leadership.
Savula, who is also deputy party leader of DAP-K, said on Tuesday that his words were exaggerated and taken out of context and that he did not mean to say he is co-governor.
The former Lugari MP, on the contrary, vowed to be loyal to Kakamega Governor-elect Fernandes Barasa and carry out his duties according to the Constitution.
“I was misquoted. I did not say I am a co-governor. The clip doing rounds on social media is not current but was recorded during campaigns. The Constitution is clear. Fernandes Barasa is the governor of Kakamega, and I Savula is his loyal deputy” he said.
In the clip that went viral, Savula had said that he is not deputy governor but co-governor according to a post-election agreement.
