Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi has finally been awarded the Prime CS post he was promised by President William Ruto as part of their post-election agreement, and now is the third most powerful of state officers.
The pact that holds together Kenya Kwanza spelled that Mudavadi and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula were to deliver 70% of Luhya votes to William Ruto’s presidential basket for them to be given 30% share of government, including the National Assembly Speaker and Prime CS posts.
Despite Mudavadi failing on his part, he was today handed over the new post that will see him be the overall in charge of the Cabinet.
During his reading of the new Cabinet Secretaries’ names on Tuesday, Ruto announced that Mudavadi, who had accompanied him, would take over the new post, which makes him one of the most powerful government officials.
The Prime CS’s functions will cut across the government as the supervisor and coordinator of all government functions.
Mudavadi will also be mandated with coordinating and supervising the technical monitoring and evaluation of Government policies apart from performing other functions as may be assigned by the President.
