Greenland FC from Lugari Ward pocketed a whooping Sh100,000 after emerging champions of the Lugari NG-CDF Football Tournament in the final held on Wednesday at the Matete Sports Ground in Chebaywa Ward.
Greenland beat Maturu Taifa Stars from Lwandeti Ward 3-0 in penalties after regular time ended in a 1-1 draw.
The team was also awarded a trophy, 16 pairs of branded uniforms, and 11 pairs of boots as its two players, Remmy Seth and Bob Centric, were selected to join the National Super League (NSL.
The first runners-up, Maturu Taifa Stars, received cash award worth Sh50,000, a trophy, 16 pairs of branded uniform and 11 pairs of boots. The second runners-up, Mlimani FC from Chekalini Ward, was awarded 30,000, 16 pairs of branded uniforms and boots and a trophy.
The third runners-up received Sh20,000 and 16 pairs of branded uniforms as all the 48 men’s and women’s teams that participated in the competition received a ball each.
