One person died after he was run over by a speeding pickup that collided with a tractor at Edmos near Mwamba along the Eldoret-Webuye highway on Wednesday morning.
West FM reported that the pickup driver lost control and crushed into the tractor that had slowed down to make a diversion towards Edmos Primary School, leading to one person falling from the tractor and was run over by the pickup, killing him instantly.
“I was returning home after dropping children to school when I saw the pickup descending from Mwamba at a very high speed before it rammed into the tractor which was carrying quarry dust,” Mr. Thomas Karakacha told West FM.
The drivers of both vehicles fled following the incident.
“We are really disappointed with manner innocent lives have continued to be stolen here. A few weeks ago, a student lost his life after being hit by a speeding truck, today we have lost innocent live, there’s also a time when a speed truck lost control and ploughed its way into a house injuries five family.
“We can’t go on like this we appeal to government to intervene and erect bumps on this road to help check on speeding vehicle, we don’t have a particular number of people that should be killed before something is done they should work on the ways of curbing this ” agitated residents told West FM.
The body of the deceased was taken to Kimbilio Funeral home in the neighboring Uasin Gishu County by officers from Lumakanda Police Station as the vehicle and tractor were towed to the Turbo Police Station for investigation.
