Police officer Fredrick Ole Leliman will be sentenced to death by hanging for his lead role in the murder of lawyer Willie Kimani and two others, Justice Lessit of the Court of Appeal has ruled.
His accomplices, Stephen Cheburet and Sylivia Wanjiku, have been sentence to 30 years and 24 years in prison respectively.
The three, who were convicted alongside police informer Peter Ngugi on July 22, have been found them guilty of killing rights lawyer Willie Kimani, his client Josephat Mwenda and taxi driver Joseph Muiruri on June 23, 2016.
The bodies of the three were found stashed in gunny bags in Ol Donyo Sabuk in Machakos County on July 1, 2016, and dumped in River Athi more than a week after they were reported missing.
