The Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports, and the Arts, led by Ababu Namwamba, has established the Talanta Hela Council and its two technical committees, one for sports and one for the arts.
The council, consisting of delegates from the Council of Governors, as well as Principal Secretaries from the State Departments of Sports, Youth Affairs, and the Arts, and Basic Education, will serve a three-year tenure and be responsible for providing vision and policy direction, ensuring government support, monitoring progress, and approving policy frameworks.
The Creatives Technical Committee, chaired by Daniel Ndambuki (Churchill), will have 10 members and a three-year term. The committee will be in charge of proposals for royalty distribution and collection, executing the National Creatives Economy Plan, administering the National Creatives Awards, monetizing the creatives sector, improving arts facilities and infrastructure, and promoting Kenya as a top film production location.
The Sports Technical Committee, presided over by Carol Radul, will have 11 members and a three-year term. The committee’s responsibilities include encouraging the growth of sports, assisting the Kenya Academy of Sports, discovering and developing talent through technology, monetizing sports and increasing employment opportunities, overseeing the annual bottom-up football tournament, and supporting the Harambee Stars and Harambee Starlets in their individual endeavors.
