Mautuma MCA Charles Anyona uplifts elderly woman with gifts in heartwarming gesture

Residents of Sipande area in Mautuma Ward, Lugari Constituency, Kakamega County, were moved by a touching act of kindness after area MCA Charles Anyona visited and donated household items to an elderly woman to help address some of her needs.

Mama Juliana, a resident of Sipande, was overwhelmed with joy upon receiving a new mattress and other gifts, terming the gesture both important and timely.

She expressed heartfelt gratitude to the MCA, who was accompanied by his wife Pamela Anyona and Mama Jackie Lucia Nabwera, wife of Lugari MP Nabii Nabwera, for visiting her and extending their kindness during a particularly difficult moment in her life.

“At my age, it is good to sleep on a comfortable mattress. I thank my MCA for visiting me to show warmth and bringing me items that will make my life better. God bless him,” she said with appreciation.

Anyona, who decided to visit the grandma during a women empowerment program in the area, said he was deeply moved after visiting her home and witnessing her situation, adding that the donation was part of his broader commitment to improving the welfare and dignity of vulnerable residents.

He pledged continued support for residents facing similar challenges, noting that ensuring decent living standards remains part of his development agenda for the ward.

In a related gesture, the wife of Lugari MP Mama Jackie Lucia Nabwera also pledged to donate a bed to Mama Juliana, saying it would be delivered in the coming days.

During the women empowerment programme organized through the Lusomo group in Sipande, MCA Anyona also led contributions amounting to KSh 106,000 for two community groups, Sipande Lusomo and Jerusalem Group, aimed at strengthening savings initiatives and empowering women economically to support one another during difficult times.
