Governor George Natembeya’s conspicuous absence in Azimio leader Raila Odinga’s Barasa on Sunday has sparked fury in the camp.
Natembeya and his deputy, Philomena Kapkoy, played no show and forced Saboti MP Caleb Amisi to play host of the anti-government protests that moved to Kitale on Sunday.
Among the leaders who accompanied Raila in the rally were his then-running mate Martha Karua, Kalonzo Musyoka, George Wajackoyah, Eugene Wamalwa, Wycliffe Oparanya, Ledama Olekina, Edwin Sifuna and Babu Owino.
“My brother Natembeya, we have been with you to Narok and we worked together to finish insecurity there, but with this habit of always travelling, you have forgotten that you’re a governor. Now you are begging for development from this Kenya Kwanza. Trans Nzoia residents are waiting for you to implement what you promised them during the campaigns,” said Ledama Ole Kina.
Natembeya said his focus in on development and that’s why he’s seeking Ruto’s hand in leading his county.
“For us, we need to focus on development, support the government, and support the President. I am not going to defect, I am going to support the President, the government,” he said.
