Mourners watched in disbelief after the body was returned to the mortuary/The Star
Drama was witnessed at Kitinda Village in Kanduyi Constituency, Bungoma County, after two women fought over the body of a man who died two weeks ago.
Two families claimed the right to bury their dead husband, Chrisandus Sifuna, forcing the body to be returned to the mortuary until an agreement is reached.
According to the Star, the third daughter of the first family said her family is the one expected to bury their father according to tradition, where the man should be buried beside his wife.
She blamed his brothers from the second family for sabotaging the burial.
“I’m very annoyed with how the sons from the first family have behaved. They have painted this family badly. Let them allow us to bury our father peacefully,” she said.
The son from the second family replied that his father had left a will in which he wanted to be buried at the second wife’s place.
“I think my siblings have created unnecessary tension and caused mourners to flee. We need to come to an agreement and lay our father to rest,” he said.
