A man from Kayunga District in Uganda met his tragic end after falling into a pit latrine while trying to retrieve his beloved phone.
As fate would have it, nature called the man, Muyimba Idi, 31, to the latrine, and in a fateful moment, his phone slipped from his grasp and into the abyss below.
In a desperate bid to recover his precious possession, Muyimba made a move that would seal his fate.
As he descended into the depths of the pit, the unlucky raised the alarm, but it was all in vain, an onlooker said. The murky waters swallowed him whole, and his valiant efforts to save himself proved futile.
For what seemed like an eternity, onlookers waited anxiously for a sign of life, but none came. They discovered he was no more after an hour of waiting before they decided to dig and found him lifeless.
Despite their best efforts, rescuers could not retrieve Muyimba’s lifeless body from the depths of the pit. It was a heart-wrenching scene as they watched hopelessly, unable to save the man who had fallen prey to the unforgiving pit.
The body of the deceased was later retrieved by the police and transported to the Bukatuube Health Center III Mortuary for postmortem examination before being handed over to his relatives for burial.
