A multi-million-shilling dormitory at Namwela Boys High School in Bungoma West Sub-County, Bungoma County, has been brought down by fire this morning.
The dormitory, which was unveiled recently and has been housing at least 150 students, becomes the second dormitory to go up in flames at the school in a span of four months.
When contacted by the Western Kenya Times, school principal John Kisaka said he had nothing to say as he was held up in a crisis meeting.
Unconfirmed reports indicate the incident could have been fueled by the recent accusation against the principal of mishandling teachers in front of students.
“Recently, the principal called teachers devil worshippers in front of the students,” said a non-teaching staff member who wished not to be identified.
Namwela Boys School has a population of over 800 students.
