Barasa trounces Malala in Lugari and Mumias East constituencies

Barasa is currently leading in several tallies.

ODM gubernatorial candidate in the Kakamega County race, Fernandes Barasa, has won in Mumias East, Lugari and Likuyani constituencies even as vote tallying continues in polling stations across the county.

In provisional results from Mumias East constituency, Barasa has trounced his closes rival, Cleophas Malala of ANC, after garnering a total of 14,828 votes compared to Malala’s 9,107 from the 24,191 valid votes cast.

The other five candidates, Cyrus Jirongo, Samuel Omukoko, Austine Opitso and Michael Osundwa managed 94,52,24,6 and 80 votes each respectively.

In Lugari constituency, Barasa defeated Malala after scooping 20,280 votes. Malala managed to get 13,331 votes.

In an earlier report, Barasa won in Likuyani Constituency by a landslide after getting 18,197 votes compared to Malala’s 8,835 votes.
