Hopeful Member of Parliament for Lugari Constituency, Bryan Liseche, through his foundation, has donated KSh 50,000 to support an acting group comprised of youths from Lumakanda Ward in Lugari Sub-county, Kakamega County, to purchase a camera and other shooting equipment.

The group, which goes by the name United Aids Lugari, received the donation today through Liseche’s personal assistant, Mark Walubengo, who delivered it to Violet Afandi, the group’s treasurer.

The energetic youths, who have a show dubbed ‘A Step in the Mind’ that airs every Thursday on UTV, have been relying on hired services to shoot the local show that showcases the plight of families living in rural areas in Kenya.

“We usually hire a videographer, and it costs us KSh 15,000 per session. This is very expensive for us considering we are still young and struggling to establish ourselves. It is a big boost, and I personally feel Bryan deserves my vote for selflessly supporting talent,” said Violet Afandi, the group’s treasurer who also features in the show as Mama Anita.

Other actors include Ben Kirungu as Kapa, Seline Shikanga as Natasha and Nancy Musamusi as Eunice.

Liseche’s agenda for Lugari

Bryan Liseche has been at the forefront of supporting talent and promoting education among the youth. He has supported various tournaments and paid fees for more than 20 students.

During his officiation by the UDP party to contest for the seat, when he was given the ticket, the aspirant elaborately summarised his wish for the people of Lugari.

“I want the youth to know that I have a great purpose for them. I want to invest a lot in employment opportunities such that they won’t be forced to go to the city for work. I want them to stay here and invest at home,” he said.

A former member of the military and a great businessman, Liseche believes that his talent is what Lugari needs to pick in the August polls.

“Infrastructure such as roads is something we need not be talking about. That is mandatory for our people and I am going to see to it that roads, health facilities and schools are well established,” he said.

‘Revive the Jirongo legacy’

Liseche asserts that one of the reasons he chose to run under the UDP ticket is that he believes Jirongo was and still is a capable Luhya leader who needs the support of people like him.

“I was talking to him and shared with him a few tips on how it may be possible for him to sweep over Kakamega County,” he said, suggesting that Jirongo may vie to be Kakamega governor or senator.

Liseche, who came out as one of the most popular forces in the Lugari contest, is expected to launch his campaign machinery in the near future.

“That is coming very soon, and it will be a wave to reckon with,” he said.

‘A shrewd businessman who knows what Lugari needs’

Vincent Saidi, one of Liseche’s confidants, said the aspirant is the best Lugari can bank on.

“Lugari for the longest time has never had an honest leader who is development-minded. I have known Bryan Liseche for 20 years. He is an economist who has proved to be one as shown in his successful businesses within Lugari and other towns. He has helped more than five students pursue their dreams in education,” he said.
