Police in Lusumu Village in Mukhonje, Kakamega County, are investigating an incident in which a Class Seven pupil committed suicide after her sister allegedly took away her dress.
The 14-year-old is said to have reported the sister’s action before hanging herself in the sitting room using a piece of cloth.
Kakamega North Sub-county police commander Paul Mwenda said they found a suicide note believed to have been written by the minor and which stated that she decided to take her life.
In the note, she also accused her mother of being unfair.
“We received the disturbing information from Mukhonje assistant chief on Thursday 6 that a girl had killed herself inside her parents’ sitting-room using a piece of cloth,” Mr. Mwenda told the media.
