Veteran Kenyan journalist Jeff Koinange has dismissed widespread online rumors alleging his death, assuring the public that he is safe and in good health.

The speculation erupted on social media after several TikTok accounts circulated claims that the celebrated broadcaster had passed away. The false reports prompted concern among fans and colleagues, with some reaching out privately to verify the information.

Media personality Xtian Dela was among those who sought clarification. In a WhatsApp conversation he later shared publicly, Dela asked Koinange to confirm his safety amid the disturbing online chatter.

“Bro bro bro! You’re good? You’re safe? TikTok has me worried. They’re spreading about your death. Just confirm you’re still here,” Dela wrote.

Koinange quickly responded, shutting down the rumor with a brief but reassuring message: “Bro bro. I’m alive and kicking.”

Dela posted the screenshot to assure Kenyans that the journalist was well, while criticizing what he termed as “clout chasers” who spread alarming misinformation for attention.

The hoax comes at a time when Koinange’s absence from his Jeff Koinange Live (JKL) show on Citizen TV has fueled speculation about his status at the station. Some fringe blogs have suggested he may have been placed on early retirement or faced disciplinary action, although no credible source has confirmed these claims.

His Hot 96 colleague, Fanya Mambo Kinuthia, recently denied allegations that Koinange’s absence was due to misconduct, urging the public to disregard unfounded rumors.

Despite the online confusion, Koinange’s direct response puts the matter to rest: he remains alive, healthy, and very much present.
