Ngwelo Secondary School in Webuye found itself at the center of controversy on Monday as parents staged a dramatic protest, rejecting the newly posted principal, Judith Nasimiyu.
Chanting slogans and blocking roads, the demonstrators disrupted learning, forcing the school administration to send students home.
At the heart of the unrest are allegations of incompetence against Nasimiyu, with reports indicating that this is the ninth institution where she has faced opposition.
“Ngwelo Secondary is not a dumping site!” one outraged parent said.
With emotions running high, the Ministry of Education may be forced to intervene, either by facilitating discussions or reassessing Nasimiyu’s deployment. As students await clarity, many hope that this leadership conflict will not lead to prolonged disruptions in their studies.
