Lugari MP Nabii Nabwera’s education reforms will pay off, give him his flowers

Under the leadership of Nabii Nabwera, Lugari Constituency is witnessing a long-awaited educational transformation.

Nabwera has leveraged his position as a member of the National Assembly’s Education Committee to deliver changes that past leadership failed to achieve. His unwavering focus on transforming education infrastructure, coupled with his personal connection to learners and teachers, is reshaping the constituency’s educational landscape.

Schools like Lake Basin Primary, Mahiga Primary, and Panpaper Primary which for long suffered from neglect, with mud-walled classrooms, leaking roofs, and inadequate facilities, are now home to modern, well-constructed classrooms, including multi-storey buildings that have replaced crumbling structures.

These changes have created an environment where students can focus on learning and excelling, free from the distractions of poor infrastructure.

His hands-on approach, away from bricks and mortar, has brought him closer to learners and teachers, fostering a collaborative spirit that has been instrumental in driving change. Through frequent meetings with school management teams, he has identified critical needs and worked to address them swiftly.

His support for academic programs, including organizing motivational sessions for teachers and learners, reflects his belief that quality education requires both resources and encouragement.

Recognizing the importance of acknowledging excellence, the MP has introduced awards for top-performing students, inspiring others to strive for academic success. His presence in inter-school competitions—cheering on students and providing resources to school teams—proves his dedication to holistic development.

Under previous leadership, such initiatives were largely absent, leaving schools and students without the necessary support to thrive. MP Nabwera’s ability to break this cycle of neglect stems from his strategic use of his legislative role and his deep commitment to grassroots engagement.

That said, some challenges still persist. One of the most pressing is the acute shortage of teachers for Junior Secondary Schools (JSS), exacerbated by the transition to the new Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). Without an adequate number of trained educators, the promise of better facilities may falter under the weight of understaffed classrooms.

Bridging this gap will solidify Nabwera’s legacy as a leader committed to nurturing the next generation toward prosperity.
