Morocco into quarterfinals after defeating Spain in penalty shootouts

The Atlas Lions make history this being their first time ever in World Cup quarterfinals.

Morocco has qualified for the FIFA Qatar World Cup 2022 quarterfinals after a stunning 3-0 win in the penalties against Spain in the knock-outs this evening.

The Atlas lions held Spain to a barren draw in regular plus extra-time.

Morocco’s keeper saved Spain’s two penalty shots as one bounced against the goal post as Morocco scored three and lost only one.

Morocco has stormed the quarterfinals unbeaten since the group matches and will be waiting on the winner between Portugal and Switzerland to know their match in the next round of the competitions.

The Atlas Lions have made history this being their first time qualifying for the quarterfinals, the first North African team and the second after Ghana in 2010 to do so.
