Deputy President William Ruto has officially shifted camp from the ruling party Jubilee to his United Democratic Alliance, which endorsed him today as its presidential flagbearer.
At an NDC attended by more than 4,000 UDA delegates the Moi International Stadium, Kasarani, in Nairobi, Ruto was unveiled as the party’s presidential favorite.
Before his endrosement, delegates retreated to a closed-door meeting that locked out the press.

Ruto accepted the endorsement in a speech that moved his supporters at the stadium, who at one point chanted “Yote yawezekana bila Uhuru.”
In his lengthy speech, the DP was critical of his boss’s regime, which he said is weaponizing government institutions to intimidate businesses that don’t seem to be on good terms with senior officials in the government.
He said that would change once he is elected president.
