Supporters of Malava by-election aspirant Wilberforce Tuvei have expressed confidence that he is best placed to clinch the constituency seat, dismissing rumors of his alleged withdrawal as “malicious propaganda.”
Addressing residents at Lusumu Village in Mugai–Shirugu Ward, the group described Tuvei—who is running on a Kenya Moja ticket—as the only credible “third force” with appeal across the constituency. They condemned claims circulating on social media alleging that he had stepped down in favor of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate David Ndakwa, terming the reports false and aimed at confusing voters.
The supporters also distanced themselves from their Vavuye sub-clan chairman, David Sayia Mutanyi, accusing him of attempting to broker a deal to sell their candidate’s loyalty to UDA for personal gain.

Led by spokesperson Zebedayo Welanano Makwata, members of the Vavuye sub-clan of the larger Avashu clan publicly disowned Sayia, alleging he had been influenced by UDA allies to derail Tuvei’s bid. Elders, led by Simon Mwaya, called for his immediate removal, arguing he had violated the clan’s earlier decision to fully support Tuvei.
Mwaya affirmed their unwavering confidence in the aspirant, describing him as “fresh, clean, and transparent politically.”
“There is no time where we have met to decide that we should shelve our son’s ambitions in favor of Ndakwa or any other aspirant,” he said. “This is our bull, capable of facing off other bulls squarely come November 27th. We are optimistic he will be the game changer Malava has been yearning for.”
The supporters urged Malava residents to rally behind Tuvei, praising his spotless record on corruption and a manifesto they say speaks to both the young and the elderly.
They insisted that Tuvei is the only candidate running a genuinely people-driven campaign with no external financial backing, portraying his political journey as clean, transparent, and appealing to all.
