Two cattle rustlers lynched to death in Mumias

The two are suspected gang members of a cattle rustling syndicate.

Two suspected cattle thieves were earlier today treated to the wrath of a mob after they were ambushed after stealing livestock in Mwitoti Village of Mumias East Sub-county, Kakamega County.

The two, Mr. Hussein Murungu, 32, and Bosco Juma, 58, were cornered by a mob in Mwitoti with two sheep while driving towards Mumias town from the home of Mr. Hassan Were, from the neighboring Eluche Village, at around 3 am.

The agitated mob, which had been alerted by Mr. Were, burned their car to ashes after lynching them to death.

“I heard a commotion from the animal shed, and when I peeped through the window, I saw strange people in the compound. I alerted my neighbors through the phone before I raised the alarm,” said Mr. Were, as reported by Nation.

The two men are well-known businessmen in Mumias town who deal in selling roasted chicken and are suspected to be members of a gang of thieves terrorizing the area.
