WKT admits error in misquoting Philip Etale as saying he didn’t vote for Grey Moi

The Western Kenya Times acknowledges a significant error in misquoting ODM Director of Communications, Philip Etale, as saying that he didn’t vote for Lugari Ward MCA Grey Moi in the August 9, 2022, general election.

WKT understands that a section of its readers interpreted the article titled Philip Etale Reveals Why He Didn’t Vote for Grey Moi published on February 6, 2024, to mean that Mr. Etale does not support MCA Grey Moi.

The misinterpretation arose from a quote pulled from an interview on January 2, 2024, during the Lugari NG-CDF Football Tournament finals: “For the first time, I voted in Lugari. Prior to 2022, I was casting my vote in Nairobi and consistently supported all candidates affiliated with ODM, except for Grey Moi, who happens to be my relative. As you know, blood is thicker than water.”

The communication chief has clarified that he, in fact, voted for Moi, who vied on a United Democratic Party (UDP) ticket, as the only candidate outside the ODM party.

WKT, therefore, retracts the details from the previous article, assuring readers of accuracy in reporting, as it has always been.
