Residents protesting the high cost of living have blocked the Eldoret-Webuye highway at Mukhonje in Lugari Sub-County, Kakamega County.
The protesters lit bonfires and used stones to block the road, causing a traffic snarl on the busy highway.
Fuel tankers were forced to pack as police engaged protesters in running battles in an attempt to clear the road.
