Family demands justice after 21-year-old killed in night attack in Lugari

A family in Chekalini Ward, Lugari Sub-County, Kakamega County is mourning the death of a 21-year-old man who was reportedly attacked and killed while returning home from a funeral.

The victim, identified as Charles Chesire, is said to have been ambushed by an unknown gang in Bondeni Village late at night. According to preliminary information from residents, the young man was heading home when he was attacked from behind by the assailants.

Chesire, an alumnus of St. Charles Lwanga Koromaiti, died following the incident, sparking outrage among locals who say insecurity in the area has reached alarming levels.

Family members and residents have called on security agencies to act swiftly and bring those responsible to justice. Some locals are now pushing for mass demonstrations to draw attention to what they describe as a growing wave of crime involving gangs and drug abuse in Chekalini.

“We cannot continue to lose lives in such a manner. Authorities must act,” said Mwanaharakati Halisi, a resident.
