Residents of Bungoma County were captured sweeping and washing sections of the Kanduyi–Musikoma road as preparations intensified for Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna’s highly anticipated Linda Mwananchi homecoming rally scheduled for Sunday.
Videos and photos shared widely on social media showed groups of residents armed with brooms, buckets and water cleaning the roadside in what many described as a symbolic show of support ahead of the senator’s arrival.
The unusual preparations came as excitement continued to build across Bungoma and neighbouring Trans Nzoia County, where Sifuna is expected to conclude his regional tour with a major rally at Bungoma Posta Grounds.
Organisers have spent days mobilising supporters, while campaign vehicles and processions have been traversing towns to rally residents to attend the event.
The homecoming has drawn significant political attention, with leaders allied to the Linda Mwananchi movement urging Western Kenya residents to unite behind Sifuna’s political ambitions. Bumula MP Jack Wamboka and former Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati have called on the region to turn out in large numbers, describing the rally as an opportunity to demonstrate Western Kenya’s political influence ahead of the 2027 general election.
