The Linda Mwananchi movement is set to pitch camp in Western Kenya this weekend with two major political rallies planned in Trans Nzoia and Bungoma counties.
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna announced that the movement will begin its Western Kenya tour with a rally in Trans Nzoia on Saturday before heading to Bungoma on Sunday for what is expected to be a high-profile homecoming event. The senator described the weekend engagements as a “double-header” as the movement seeks to expand its grassroots mobilisation across the region.
The announcement follows the movement’s recent rally in Taita Taveta County, where its leaders continued their campaign centred on governance, accountability and constitutionalism. The Western Kenya tour is expected to build on the momentum generated during previous rallies held across different parts of the country.
Preparations for the two events have been underway for several weeks. Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, one of the movement’s key allies, previously confirmed that his county would host the team before they proceed to Bungoma for Sifuna’s homecoming.
Natembeya said leaders from across the Western region, including community elders and representatives from various organisations, are expected to attend the Bungoma rally. He also noted that the movement has already visited most counties in the region, leaving Trans Nzoia and Bungoma as the final stops in the current phase of its Western Kenya mobilisation.
Political observers are expected to closely watch the turnout at the two rallies, particularly in Bungoma, where Sifuna enjoys significant support. The county has increasingly become an important political battleground as leaders begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 general election.
The rallies are also expected to provide the Linda Mwananchi leadership with an opportunity to outline its agenda to residents while strengthening its support base in one of Kenya’s politically influential regions.
