Burial in Lwandeti, Lugari Constituency, Kakamega County, was conducted without the scheduled funeral service after chaos erupted, forcing the pastor and other mourners to flee as family members exchanged blows.
Several people sustained serious injuries and were rushed to hospital after chaos erupted during the funeral of Mzee Wabomba Kimingichi in Chimoi on Tuesday.

According to reports from the scene, tensions had been building between the deceased’s two households, with the second wife allegedly protesting what she described as being sidelined in the funeral arrangements.
The disagreement reportedly intensified during the funeral service, resulting in clashes among mourners. The situation became too chaotic for the planned funeral programme to continue, leaving the deceased to be buried without the expected prayers and other burial rites.

Photos obtained by WKT capture the chaotic scenes as mourners scattered, plastic chairs were hurled across the venue, and the burial was hurriedly conducted in the aftermath of the disruption.
The incident has raised concerns among residents, with calls for families to resolve disputes peacefully rather than allowing disagreements to disrupt funeral ceremonies.
