Teachers from Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE), primary and junior schools across Lugari Sub-County have been celebrated for their dedication and contribution to shaping the future of children and society.

The teachers, alongside Heads of Institutions (HOIs) and school principals, gathered at Bishop Sulumeti Girls Junior School to mark a special celebration honoring their service and commitment to education.

The event, held last Tuesday ahead of World Teachers’ Day celebrations and led by Lugari TSC Director Dr. Jaluo Murunga, highlighted the vital role teachers play in shaping learners’ futures and contributing to the development of the nation.

Education officials urged teachers to uphold integrity, professionalism, and commitment as they carry out their duties.

“Teachers are the light of society,” the educators were told, in recognition of their resilience and selfless service despite the challenges associated with the profession.

The celebration also recognized teachers who had completed research projects assigned by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC). The teachers were awarded certificates for successfully completing research in various disciplines they teach.

Heads of institutions and principals were further encouraged to spearhead tree-planting activities in their schools as part of efforts to promote environmental conservation.

The initiative is also expected to contribute to preparations for the 2026 World Teachers’ Day celebrations, with schools encouraged to incorporate environmental activities into the commemorations.
