Presidential hopeful Edwin Sifuna is taking his Linda Mwananchi political movement to Kwale County on Saturday in an ambitious push to expand his political influence beyond traditional strongholds and build a nationwide support base.
The rally marks another bold step in Sifuna’s increasingly assertive political journey as he seeks to establish himself as a national political force under the newly formalized Linda Mwananchi party.
Having built momentum through public rallies and grassroots engagements in different parts of the country, Sifuna is now setting his sights on the Coast, where the movement hopes to attract new supporters and strengthen its local structures.
The choice of Kwale is significant. The movement had already begun laying the groundwork in the county, with Sifuna meeting local leaders, ward and sub-county representatives, and political aspirants during his Coast tour in September.
The engagements have also coincided with growing political dissatisfaction among sections of local ODM supporters, some of whom have expressed support for the Linda Mwananchi outfit.
Sifuna’s latest move comes at a defining moment for the movement, which has been working to formalize its political identity and position itself as an alternative platform ahead of the next general election.
On Friday, October 30, the senator is expected to oversee the party’s official launch, setting the stage for Saturday’s public engagement in Kwale.
The movement has previously held rallies in Mombasa and Taita Taveta as part of its ambition to establish a presence across all 47 counties.
Beyond the political speeches, the Kwale gathering will offer Sifuna an opportunity to demonstrate that Linda Mwananchi’s appeal can travel beyond its existing support networks and resonate with voters in different parts of Kenya.
