PSG edge Bayern 5-4 in historic Champions League thriller

Paris Saint-Germain took a narrow but crucial advantage in their UEFA Champions League semi-final clash after edging Bayern Munich 5-4 in a pulsating first-leg encounter in Paris on Tuesday night.

The nine-goal thriller, already being hailed as one of the competition’s most entertaining matches, saw both sides trade blows in an end-to-end contest that kept fans on edge throughout.

Bayern Munich opened the scoring through Harry Kane, who converted from the penalty spot to continue his impressive scoring form in Europe. However, the hosts responded quickly, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and João Neves turning the game in PSG’s favour.

Ousmane Dembélé then emerged as a key figure for the French champions, scoring twice—including a penalty—as PSG surged into a commanding lead. At one stage, the home side looked to have put the tie beyond reach after going 5-2 up early in the second half.

But Bayern Munich refused to back down. Dayot Upamecano pulled one back before Luis Díaz added another to spark a late comeback. Michael Olise also played a pivotal role in Bayern’s attacking efforts, contributing a goal in a spirited display.

Despite the late pressure, Paris Saint-Germain held firm to secure a slender first-leg advantage over Bayern Munich.

The result leaves the semi-final finely poised ahead of the return leg in Munich, where Bayern will look to overturn the deficit on home soil, while PSG aim to protect their lead and move one step closer to another Champions League final.
