Sifuna’s Radio Jambo interview cancelled in the last minute

A Thursday morning radio interview featuring Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna on Radio Jambo was abruptly cancelled, triggering speculation over the circumstances behind the decision.

The interview had been scheduled to air during the station’s breakfast show but was called off just hours before it was due to go live. In a message shared by Sifuna, the station’s producer Martin NK cited “unavoidable circumstances” and apologised for the inconvenience, without offering further details.

Sifuna reacted publicly to the development by sharing a screenshot of the message, adopting a sarcastic tone and hinting that the explanation given may not fully account for the cancellation. His remarks quickly drew attention online, with Kenyans debating whether the move was routine or influenced by external factors.

Despite the setback, the senator appeared unfazed, joking that the cancellation allowed him extra time in the morning and an opportunity to follow a football match later in the day. Moments later, he shared a poster from Spice FM, which proved invitation to another show.

“Jambo Jambo! Ni kuoga na kurudi soko…unavoidable circumstances ni wewe. Injili lazima iendelee,” he captioned the post.

The Radio Jambo incident has since generated mixed reactions on social media. While some users questioned whether political pressure could have played a role, others dismissed the situation as a common scheduling disruption in the media industry.

At the time of publication, Radio Jambo had not issued a detailed public statement explaining the cancellation beyond the initial communication.
