Mzee Patrick Wangamati, the father of former Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati, has died at the age of 87.
According to the family, Mzee Wangamati passed away at around 4:00 a.m. on Monday morning while receiving treatment at a hospital in Bungoma after a long battle with illness.
The family said he had been under medical care for an extended period, with his condition worsening in recent days before his death.
Mzee Wangamati was a respected figure in Bungoma County and had previously served in local leadership, including as mayor of Webuye. He was also known for his influence in community affairs and his role in supporting civic and political engagement in the region.
Family members are expected to announce burial arrangements in the coming days.
