Silas Barasa, the younger brother of Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa, has been laid to rest in a solemn and emotional burial ceremony marked by grief, reflection, and an outpouring of condolences from leaders and residents.
The burial, attended by leaders from the region, took place in Khabondi village, Mumias East, Kakamega County, where family, friends, and community members gathered to give Silas a final send-off following his death after what the family describes as a short illness.
Governor Barasa, who has been at the center of the mourning family, described his late brother as a humble, kind-hearted, and hardworking individual whose generosity touched many lives. He said the loss had left a deep void within the family and among all who knew him.
Throughout the funeral proceedings, mourners eulogised Silas as a private yet warm personality who valued family and community ties. Messages of sympathy continued to pour in from political leaders and members of the public, who stood in solidarity with the Barasa family during their time of grief.
Governor Barasa had earlier announced the passing of his brother, noting that he died following a short illness and requesting privacy as the family made burial arrangements.
