A man has been arrested after police intercepted a public service vehicle (PSV) along the Webuye–Eldoret Highway and recovered 100 kilograms of cannabis sativa with an estimated street value of Sh3 million.
The operation was carried out by officers from Lumakanda Police Station following a tip-off about the transportation of the prohibited narcotics.
According to police, the officers mounted a strategic roadblock at Lumakanda Junction, where they intercepted the suspected matatu. During a search of the vehicle, officers discovered two green sacks containing bales of cannabis sativa in the possession of a passenger identified as Kelvin Onyango.

The recovered narcotics weighed approximately 100 kilograms and are estimated to have a street value of about Sh3 million.
Onyango was arrested at the scene and escorted to Lumakanda Police Station, where he is being processed ahead of his arraignment in court.
Police said the recovered cannabis has been retained as an exhibit as investigations into the suspected drug trafficking continue.
