Tanzanian singer Zuchu has announced that she has separated from fellow Bongo Flava star Diamond Platnumz, saying the couple is now going through a divorce after six years together.
The Sukari hitmaker, whose real name is Zuhura Othman Soud, made the announcement through an emotional statement shared on her Instagram Stories on Sunday.
“I announce this with a heavy heart. After six years of being together, I have finally decided to choose myself,” Zuchu wrote, adding that she wished Diamond Platnumz, born Naseeb Abdul, and his family well as they each move forward.
She said her immediate priority would be healing, protecting her health and focusing on her music career.
“As for me, this is the time to heal and focus more on my health and my work. We tried, but Allah has His plans, and I have no choice but to accept them,” she said in part.
Neither Zuchu nor Diamond Platnumz disclosed the reason behind the separation, and Diamond had not issued a public statement by the time of publication.
The announcement comes amid widespread speculation on social media following claims by people close to the couple that Zuchu could be pregnant. However, the singer did not address the rumours in her statement, leaving fans speculating about the timing of the breakup.
The couple’s relationship has long attracted public attention across East Africa. After years of speculation and an on-and-off romance, Zuchu confirmed in 2025 that she and Diamond Platnumz were legally married, bringing clarity to months of public debate about their relationship.
Their latest separation has sparked an outpouring of reactions from fans across social media, with many expressing sadness while others urged the two musicians to reconcile. Others noted that the pair had previously experienced public breakups before rekindling their relationship, although it remains unclear whether this latest split will be permanent.
Zuchu is one of East Africa’s most successful female artists and has built her career under Diamond Platnumz’s WCB Wasafi record label, producing several chart-topping hits and collaborations with the Tanzanian superstar.
