Spain booked their place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final after defeating France 2-0 in a commanding semi-final performance in Arlington, Texas.
The Spanish side took control of the match early and opened the scoring in the 22nd minute when Mikel Oyarzabal converted a penalty after teenage winger Lamine Yamal was brought down inside the box.
France struggled to create clear opportunities against a disciplined Spanish defense and fell further behind in the 58th minute when Pedro Porro finished off a well-worked attacking move to make it 2-0.
The victory was built on Spain’s control of possession and an organized defensive display that successfully contained France’s dangerous attack led by Kylian Mbappé. Despite entering the tournament as one of the favorites, France found it difficult to break down the Spanish backline.
Spain has now extended its unbeaten run to 37 matches and has conceded only one goal throughout the tournament. The reigning European champions have also kept six clean sheets in seven World Cup matches.
With the win, Spain advances to the World Cup final, where they will face the winner of the other semi-final between England and Argentina.
For France, the defeat ends their hopes of reaching a third consecutive World Cup final, while Spain moves one victory away from securing a second FIFA World Cup title after their historic triumph in 2010.
