Bumula MP Jack Wamboka confronts police over alleged arrest of Sifuna supporters

Bumula MP Jack Wamboka has confronted police officers following the alleged arrest of youths who were publicly expressing support for The Equitable Party (TEP) leader Edwin Sifuna.

A video circulating online shows Wamboka engaging several security officers as some youths were being taken away near a Shell petrol station in Kanduyi, an urban center near Bungoma town.

The youths are heard chanting slogans associated with Sifuna, including “Sisi Ndio Sifuna” and “Wantam,” as they demonstrated their support for his 2027 presidential ambitions.

Wamboka questioned the officers over the arrests and demanded to know why the youths were being detained.

“What are you doing, bwana officer? You can’t do this. Why are you harassing people?” Wamboka is heard saying in the footage.

The MP subsequently criticized the alleged arrests, arguing that Kenyans should be allowed to express their political preferences without intimidation.

“Our police officers should not be used to fight political wars and arrest citizens for expressing their democratic rights,” Wamboka said.

The incident comes as political activity intensifies ahead of the 2027 General Election, with Sifuna emerging as one of the politicians seeking to build a nationwide political base.
