To William Libombolo Makhalanya, the court’s decision to uphold Grey Moi Amutete’s win in the Lugari Ward MCA race is more of a victory than a loss.
Mr. Makhalanya, in a brief interview after the court’s verdict that cancelled his petition victory, said defeating Mr. Moi in the “first round” of the court case is something he is proud of.
“I have made a mark in the politics of Lugari Ward to show that elections can be challenged whenever anyone feels they were not done in the right way,” he said.
The leader said he will continue supporting the community through his own funding, as he has been doing, and that five years is such a short period to grieve over a loss.
“My opponent now has a chance to prove that he can work. He said the court case was blocking him from delivering to the people. His hands are now untied. Let him show us what he’s capable of,” he said, adding that he will be coming back stronger in 2027.
