A man was found dead at an unfinished building near Kona Mbaya, close to Lumakanda Boys High School in Lugari Constituency, Kakamega County, early Sunday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Salee, who works as a welder in Kona Mbaya.
According to witnesses, his lifeless body was found at around 6 a.m. by passersby heading to nearby sugarcane plantations.
Kageha Valentine, who lives nearby, told WKT that the man is suspected to have been killed, with visible injuries suggesting he was struck with a blunt object, possibly a machete.
“It’s possible he was robbed and killed after attempting to raise an alarm, or the incident may have stemmed from a love triangle, as he was reportedly involved with another man’s wife,” she explained.

Police officers from Lumakanda Police Station, alerted by area chief Celestine Asige, responded to the scene and later moved the body at around 11 a.m. to Hope Funeral Home as investigations into the killing commenced.
Residents have raised alarm over increasing cases of crime, citing a similar incident reported in Soweto about two weeks ago.
Locals also blamed poor lighting in the area, saying lack of electricity has contributed to insecurity, especially at night.
