Two boda boda riders were killed on the spot this evening following a tragic road accident at Mukhonje Market in Lugari Constituency along the busy Eldoret–Webuye highway.
The riders lost their lives after a trailer reportedly lost control, veered off the road, and rammed into them before crashing into a nearby shop.
According to an eyewitness, Moses Murua, the incident unfolded suddenly, leaving little chance for the victims to escape.
“The trailer veered off the road and hit the riders before crashing into a shop,” Murua said.
In the same incident, a female vegetable vendor sustained serious injuries. She was rushed to Pioneer Clinic, where she is currently receiving treatment.
The crash has since caused a major traffic snarl-up along the highway, with motorists urged to exercise caution as emergency responders work at the scene.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the cause of the accident, but investigations are expected to commence.
