Sifuna draws large crowd at Linda Mwananchi rally in Nakuru

Edwin Sifuna on Sunday led a high-attendance Linda Mwananchi rally in Nakuru, as the opposition faction stepped up its grassroots mobilisation across the country.

The event, held at Mazembe Grounds, attracted hundreds of supporters who turned up to hear leaders address key national issues, including the rising cost of living following the increase in fuel prices and governance concerns.

The rally followed a church service earlier in the day at PAG Kivumbini Church, where Sifuna joined congregants before proceeding to the political gathering.

Sifuna was joined by several prominent opposition figures, among them James Orengo and Babu Owino, in what appeared to be a coordinated effort to consolidate support for the Linda Mwananchi movement.

The Nakuru rally is part of a broader nationwide tour by the faction, which has in recent weeks held similar engagements in different regions as it seeks to strengthen its political base ahead of the 2027 general election.

Leaders at the rally criticised the government over economic challenges facing Kenyans, particularly the high cost of living, while calling for policies they said would better protect ordinary citizens.

“They tell us there is a scientific fuel pricing formula. But it’s all pure lies; it’s actually Ruto who decides with his people the price he wants to set. He just wakes up one day and increases it, and when people make noise, he says it should be reduced again. And that’s why we want to remove him,” Sifuna said.

Sunday’s event unfolded alongside other political activities in different parts of the country, highlighting intensifying mobilisation efforts among rival camps as the political landscape begins to take shape ahead of the next election cycle.

Organisers indicated that the Linda Mwananchi tour will continue in other counties in the coming weeks, with more rallies planned as part of the movement’s outreach strategy.
